Complete 'reboot' of system necessary
Comments 0 | Recommend 0While observing the current health care reform debate, I can't help but come away with the impression that our two-party system has become so corrupt that nothing short of a complete "reboot" of our government will be necessary to cure the excesses and inadequacies of governance we now face. What a troubling time for our nation.
The government has so devalued our currency by excessive borrowing and printing of money that China, Saudi Arabia and countless other countries are looking to turn away from the dollar as the universally accepted standard of common exchange, particularly with respect to the trading of oil.
Who will finance our spiraling deficit? The Chinese have doubled their gold reserves recently, selling off dollars for gold. India bought $6.7 billion in gold in the last few weeks. Are they simply hedging their bets or have they realized that our spending spree is unsustainable? My guess is the latter.
After all, who could blame them? They view our leaders as drunken students at a frat party reveling in the moment. The excesses of big government serve as the centerpiece of the celebration. No sense of responsibility is on display.
Now the foolish jesters in Congress are proposing a health care reform measure that will surely result in many times the estimated cost just as Medicare has proven to be, regardless of their "projections." No problem, we just tax the "rich" and print more dollars.
If the dollar represents the equivalent of a "share of stock" in the future of America, then the "stock" market is about to crash. Maybe not this month, maybe not this year, but crash it will. Where will those responsible for this debacle be then?
Our government is digging a hole that future generations will be buried in. A gravesite for our posterity! What a poor legacy to leave our children.
Each member of the House, Senate and the administration must be held accountable. Forget political rhetoric. Every individual in Washington will have blood on their hands unless they come clean and do what is right for out nation. To hell with party power! Do what is right for the American people. Do what is right for our future generations.
Most importantly, do what is right.
