Hagel confirmation is path forward for future

Thank you, Sen. McCain, for reminding the American people during the Senate hearings for Sen. Chuck Hagel:

How wrong the invasion of Iraq was, based on false information.

How powerful the Israeli (Jewish) lobby is in our Congress.

Looking in his rear-view mirror to chastise Hagel’s former statements and decisions, Sen. McCain pushed Sen. Hagel to judge himself as wrong. History judges our mistakes, Sen. McCain (remember Palin).

Thinking outside the box is not a McCain strong suit today. The visual view of the angry face of Sen. McCain compared to that of a calm, but frustrated face of Chuck Hagel when pushed by the bully to march to the same drum beat showed me, McCain as president would have been a disaster. Mark Jan. 31, 2013, as the day history judged Sen. McCain.

I see the Sen. Hagel hearings as a window into the old ideas of the past. The confirmation of Hagel to secretary of defense is a path forward into the future.

Lastly, the Republican senators were so intent on attacking Hagel, they never bothered to include questions concerning policies and the future of the men and women of the military. We learned nothing about the forces and the defense department going forward.
