Not all headlines are doom and gloom

Gloom and doom seem to dominate the news, but here are some recent events I was happy to see in the headlines:

• A court in France barred a French newspaper from further publication of topless photos of Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, who apparently assumed she could sunbathe at a private villa — in private — without the rest of the world seeing her.

• Sales tax revenue was up in August in Yuma. No one likes taxes, but we can hope the increase is a hint of better times ahead.

• Having struggled earlier in his NFL career, Kevin Kolb is so far succeeding this season as the Arizona Cardinals' quarterback. (Disclaimer: This was written before Sunday's game against Philadelphia.)

• Any headlines referencing the approach of fall.
