Thieves get stuck with stick shift

Did you see this story about the two guys who tried to steal a Corvette at gunpoint, only to be thwarted by their own incompetence?

Apparently, the would-be thieves had no idea how to drive a stick shift and couldn't navigate the clutch.

After several attempts, they left the scene … on foot.

This story entertains me to no end and makes me thankful for my dad, who was adamant his daughters drive only manual transmission vehicles.

In fact, my dad would get me up at 2 a.m. to drive — he's a delivery guy, and his hours are weird. So up I would be at 2 a.m., practicing on snowy Ohio roads until I mastered the art of driving a manual transmission car. It was rather smart of him — at those hours, the most traffic I was likely to run into was a flock of chickens.

The hours were brutal, but you know what? It was a lesson worth every minute.
