Inability to speak Spanish cost job

Recently my 18-year-old graduated from high school and went looking for a job in this great city of Yuma.

After going and filling out many applications, she got an interview with a local store. She thought it was great to have a chance to get a job. They asked her to come back for a second interview because she did so well on her interview.

So the following Monday, she went back for the second interview. During this interview, she was told she would not be hired because she didn’t speak Spanish. She was devastated.

How can a business put up a notice to hire with no stipulations on their ad and then require Spanish later? Let’s get this straight, Yuma. This really ticked me off as a parent and as a citizen born and raised in the U.S.A.

When I served overseas in Japan, I had to learn part of their language in order to shop. This I did not mind, as it was common courtesy.
