Library Friends provide support
Oct. 21-27 is the sixth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries week, making it a good time to publicly thank the Friends who contribute so much of their time and expertise to significantly enhance the Yuma County Library District's services.
Our Friends groups are nonprofit volunteer support groups for the Yuma County Library District libraries. They work in the community to encourage the use of libraries, promote literacy and serve as vocal library advocates. Our Friends also raise funds for special projects by holding book sales and sponsoring fundraisers and events.
The Friends of Yuma County Libraries, Inc. supports the Main Library and the Heritage, Somerton and San Luis branch libraries; Friends of the Foothills Library supports our Foothills Branch Library; and Friends of Yuma County Library Wellton Branch supports our Wellton Branch Library.
The library district values and appreciates the support of these amazing volunteers, and they are a source of pride for our community. I hope you will contact your local Friends group to find out how you can join and/or support these wonderful organizations.
