Marriage denial not an injustice
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The letter by Timothy Neil Alba ("Don't serve on juries as protest," Nov. 6) claiming injustice against gays because they are not allowed to wed is not quite accurate.
Just about every state I know of has established the right of civil union for homosexual couples with all the legal rights and privileges available to married couples. That is with one exception: the title of marriage.
Marriage was instituted in civilizations for the primary purpose of conceiving and nurturing the next generation. No homosexual union is capable of conceiving children necessary for civilization to survive.
True they are capable of raising children just as well as a single parent but with the societal confusion associated with who has the role of mother or father.
The homosexual community simply wants the label of marriage and thus societal approval of their lifestyle - nothing more and nothing less.
