Firearms at the public library
As Dennis Miller says, “I don't want to go on a rant but...”
This is an open carry state for firearms yet our $28 million Yuma Main Library has a total of three lockers to secure legal firearms for 93,000 people. That number doubles when the winter visitors are here. At one time, they had only one key for all three lockers until they were informed this wasn't exactly a wise idea.
The Heritage Library has six lockers for use at 25 cents a key. Security guards at both libraries are armed with walkie-talkies. We all know shootings don't happen at movie theaters or libraries.
More than a few bookshelves were empty after the grand opening. I guess they didn't have much room in the budget for new books.
