Bullying not always obvious
“I'm fortunate to never have been bullied in school.” That was my thought when reading a story about bullying. Then I remembered my high school graduation when a fellow graduate apologized for being mean to me throughout high school. Huh? I was stunned. I never noticed. Maybe she talked behind my back and I never knew it. I guess in this case, ignorance is bliss.
I also thought I had never bullied anyone. Then I remembered that day in kindergarten when I mercilessly teased a boy. I guess that could be considered bullying today.
But that was the last time I ever did it. He was waiting for me on the walk home – the only time I have been beaten up. Mom forced me to tell her who roughed me up. Then she marched me to his house and talked to his mother. I was mortified, and that put an end to my bullying days.
