Smartphones, marital status affect presidential choice
Is this upcoming presidential election going to be a generational one, something like 2008 when observers say younger voters swung the vote in favor of President Obama?
There is no hard data to support that contention, but a couple of recent polls tend to tell me it is.
One was of smartphone owners asked whether they would vote for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. By a large percentage, owners of these high-tech cell phones favored Obama. In another poll, single women strongly favored Obama while married women strongly favored Romney.
You could probably interpret these two results in a lot of ways, but my takeaway is that smartphone owners and single women tend to be younger.
So it is looking like another generation voting pattern to me. We will see how it comes out in November.
