More than feelings needed on Obama
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Before the 2000 elections, I did my very best to put forth the dangers of electing George W. Bush as our president. Obviously, my best did no good, and we are all paying dearly for that terrible mistake the country made. Now we are faced with an election that could, literally, make or break this country. I was saddened to read a letter from Anthony Conte who is basing his decisions on falsehoods about Barack Obama and on "feelings."
I share his concerns about John McCain - in triplicate. I have endless facts about McCain's desire to make America a militaristic, imperialistic country. These are proven facts. However, Conte would use rumors and proven lies and "feelings" to make his decision.
One example – a total lie – is that Obama would not pledge allegiance to our flag. False. Conte is trying to put forth that Obama is a Muslim – not a Christian. False. Try Snopes.com on the Web and other sources to hear the facts. These are vicious lies.
I would suggest that Conte do more than "have feelings" about a presidential candidate. Try researching the true facts. McCain is a definite threat to our democracy, to our beloved republic. If Conte, and others, care to found their decisions on "feelings" and on total falsehoods about any candidate – then perhaps in another four years our country will have to live again with the consequences.
These could include more innocent deaths, a failing economy, our civil liberties raped, poverty on the rise, worldwide condemnation and environmental controls lagging behind other countries of the world.
Now, that is a totally sad future to consider. If ever facts were more vital than feelings, this is the election that counts more than you can imagine. If Obama is "not your man," think again. McCain sure should never be.
