Do-nothings hurt people
Comments 0 | Recommend 0In my opinion, the politicians in this country are do-nothing people who take advantage of us all.
Being retired on a fixed income after working over 35 years in the cement masons trade, we cannot meet our monthly obligations anymore. We have to borrow money every month to pay our bills, then the next month we have to pay them off. It has become a vicious circle that we cannot get out of.
Our utilities are high and going higher each month. We conserve as much as we can and, at times, are uncomfortable because we do not want to use the air conditioning.
It seems to me that no matter who we elect as president, he will not be able to solve the problems we face. Believe me, I would love to use much stronger language, but my wife won't allow it. Our wonderful country is so far in debt, it will take many years to recover from our deficits.
In my opinion, we are selling our country's assets to special interests overseas. Our jobs are leaving our country for cheaper labor elsewhere.
As an American working man that has seen the best of this country, I'm appalled at the direction we are headed for now.
I'm sorry this letter seems so negative. When people are suffering here and elsewhere and our wonderful politicians are living in luxury with many homes and we are in fear of losing ours due to the economy, I must protest.
I'm a veteran of the Korean War, 76 years old.
