How can officials pick which laws to uphold?

After reading the Yuma Sun editorial titled “New legal fight could lie ahead on marijuana law,” I felt I needed to write a response.

I am neither biased for or against the legalization of marijuana use, however, I must ask what is the point of law-abiding citizens in the state of Arizona voting a law into being only to have our elected officials refuse to acknowledge or uphold this law?

When were they given the right to pick and choose which laws they would uphold?
