Sleep well because the sky is not falling
It is truly sad, these times we live in. Our history is replete with people who corrupt science for political, religious or monetary reasons — but seldom on such a scale as now.
The science of global warming is by no means settled. Remember when the Earth was said to be flat? That, too, was a “known known.” Remember when man could never fly? Same “known known.”
Today, like times long ago, anyone who challenges the scientists, is called a kook, an idiot, an extremist. Learned people are being fired for daring to point out obvious ... it’s a fraud!
To letter writer Steve Phlegar (“Danger from global warming is a ‘known’,” Aug. 28) and others with their sociopolitical agendas masquerading as knowledge, consider how the Earth heals after a massive volcanic event, consider how many knowledgeable leaders in their fields have been ignored. Why don’t you believe the geologists? Consider that the computer models used to predict the warming were highly inaccurate, consider that we really are not more powerful than the Earth itself.
