Rate hikes seem unjust
I recently received a letter from Rural/Metro Fire Department stating that my renewal fee for 2013 will be increased by $114, based on a new square feet calculation method. In addition, if Rural/Metro has a price increase, it will take effect July 1.
I have the facts on another property in the Foothills, similar to my 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, which is outside the Yuma city limits. The property tax on that property, within the city limits, is $30 less than my property and includes fire protection.
Along with the proposed 188 percent rate increase by Far West Water and Sewer, maybe it is time to reconsider annexation to the city.
