Disappointed in nation's choices
I really don’t understand why Washington and the Progressive Democrats in particular are determined to destroy capitalism, adopt doctrines of socialism, uproot our heritage of the past, trash the Constitution — our guarantor of the inalienable rights and freedom under God — and transfer the power from the people to the politicians in the nation’s Capitol.
Both parties are guilty of greed and power and us for stupidity and moral decadence! These politicians feathered their own nests with obscene pensions and health benefits for themselves, played footsie with the lobbyists and special interest groups while we foot the bills. All the while Social Security and Medicare were being abused and dismantled by power-happy politicians. There was no outrage from us as to those antics from these wannabee Robin Hoods, because we were so self-absorbed in ourselves we didn’t have time to read or be informed as to what politicians were up to. We thought Cronkite, Rather, Jennings and Brokaw were all we needed to know. We had no idea that they were part of the Washington establishment, and stars at their parties and banquets.
Now for the seriousness and realization that lies ahead. There is no returning to what once was, that is gone forever. With trillions of dollars in debt already, and legislators with out-of-control spending, it can be assumed that generations down the road will be those burdened with our insatiable appetites for reckless spending. We showed our true nature last election. Am I angry? Yes, to a degree, but mostly disappointed seeing half of the population in the country wanting to change America into a socialistic state willing to sacrifice their freedom and become a ward of the government.
