Received help from McCain
Twenty years ago, when doctors told me to no longer work, I applied for and gratefully received Social Security and veterans disability pensions. A fiduciary account was set up for me with a state veterans commission.
Later, however, due to my amazing bad luck and some bureaucratic incompetence, my funds disappeared (into the federal "black hole!"). I found out later I wasn't the only vet to suffer similarly. Bummer ... and a very helpless feeling.
After several years of red tape and disappointing dead-ends and after hearing from all concerned parties that I most likely would not receive a penny that I had lost and after almost forgetting the whole thing, as a last resort, I wrote U.S. Senator John McCain concerning this matter.
Much to my surprise, I received a prompt, personal letter stating his concern, how sorry he was and that he would look into my problem. I can't tell you how impressed and how cheered up I got from him taking time out for a "little guy" like me! To be truthful, getting my money back didn't seem like such an urgent deal anymore - I'd gotten paid! As he stated, "I am accountable to and care for all my constituents."
John McCain as president, I don't know a thing about, but John McCain as a positive problem solver and yes, friend, I do know a thing about.
Oh, by the way, I did get my money back!
