Public service demand can't be sustained
A recent letter from Jason Stobbs was titled “Time to get over presidential election.” On that, we agree. His letter offered a rebuttal to a previous letter which claimed President Obama was re-elected by the votes of the “gimmies,” “gullible” and “uninformed.” Mr. Stobbs noted that he supported Obama, yet is “extremely well-informed.” That may be the case, but Mr. Stobbs also mentioned he “worked in public service all my life.” And that had nothing to do with your presidential choice?
Those of us who started small businesses used the success of those companies to pay our own salaries, those of our employees, and those in “public service.” The salaries of “public service” employees come from tax revenue which, in turn, comes from only one place: the private sector.
The Obama administration despises the private sector and loves its social programs, which can be expected from a president whose prior experience consisted of being a “community organizer.” But unless you harbor a strong belief in the tooth fairy or have never heard of the financial situation in Greece, you must realize the “private sector supply” ultimately cannot sustain out-of-control growth in “public service demand.”
Mr. Stobbs' reference to his “master's degree in education” seems to be why he feels “well informed” when it comes to his presidential choice. Perhaps a master's in economics might have led to him making a better choice.
