Metal detectors at schools a good idea
The solution to the school shooting problem really has nothing to do with gun control, armed teachers or armed school guards.
A few years back there were shootings in our nation's courthouses but none have been reported recently. The reason is obvious. If anyone enters a courthouse today, they must pass through metal detectors just as they do at all airports. There you have security with restricted entrances.
Place metal detectors at all school entrances and no one will be able to bring weapons into our schools and that will mean no more school shootings.
I realize that many schools have multiple entrances now but schools, like our courthouses and airports, can be fenced and closed with just one or two main entrances which all students, teachers, parents and other personnel will have to pass through to gain entrance to the school.
I'm surprised that none of the brilliant minds in Washington have come up with this solution. So far, I have not heard or read of anyone making suggestions similar to mine. It seems that they might be just a little more concerned with taking our second amendment rights away from us than saving lives of our children.
