Replace stop signs with yield signs
I was at a military base in northern California, where they did away with all of the stop signs and replaced them with yield signs. They eased the traffic flow and also reduced the smog level from all the cars that had to start up from a dead stop.
I started to notice that 99.9 percent of all cars here, including cars leaving City Hall, and the police station in our area, do not stop at stop signs, unless there are cars coming.
Stop and think about it, the penalties for not stopping at a stop sign and causing an accident or not yielding at an intersection is about the same, so why have two signs that really mean the same? So you will increase traffic flow and lower the smog level. Win, win.
