Election time is season for signs
I can't wait for election season to be over, for a variety of reasons.
The biggest one at the moment, though? Campaign signs.
They look OK at the start of election season.
But as the months pass, they begin to look more tattered and battered.
By the time Nov. 6 rolls around, after months of exposure to Yuma's relentless sunshine, they just look sad and rather pathetic.
Really, I don't mind seeing them in people's yards. I support the right to express your opinion and preference – that's perfectly fine.
What gets me are the dirt lots scattered across Yuma that become a packed field of random campaign signs.
One could make an argument that the signs are actually a pleasant addition to what otherwise would be an empty eyesore, but I'm not sold on that.
I'm counting the days until Election Day 2012. Get out and vote on Nov. 6 … and then candidates, let's get those signs put away!
