Small businesses need exemptions
We hear about the war on women and the war on minorities. However, there is a war on small businesses that we never hear about.
Even though approximately 60 percent of small business retailers now use some form of the Internet for retail sales, our country's leaders have not yet realized how sales tax legislation would have an enormous effect on the economy and job loss.
Current bills circulating in Congress do not consider us small business owners. If Congress should act to impose sales tax collection for small businesses doing business on the Internet, we would be forced to be in compliance with the 9,600 different sales tax jurisdictions. You can be assured that many small businesses will suffer.
Congress has not been user-friendly for small business. The rules and regulations imposed by government are enormous and it continues as a silent war.
If we want to stop the job losses and try for a growing economy, Congress should provide a large exemption for small businesses that do online business.
