Snow is snow much fun for kids

It's been hot and humid lately, but a friend and I have been talking about snowmen and snow forts.

I feel sorry for people who didn't grow up around snow. As an adult, I dislike the stuff and believe it only belongs on postcards. But when you're a kid, a snow-covered lawn amounts to a fantastic wonderland.

The only thing I didn't like was making snow angels, but that was mostly because my angels came out funky (a little too chunky).

I enjoyed telling my friend tales of building snow forts so high that you could actually stand up inside. For some forts, you just hollowed out a cave. For others, you got fancy by carving out blocks of snow, using your mittened hands like saws.

My forts were so cozy that I would even nap in them. They were also great for hiding candy, but that's another story.
