Appreciate unity request by student

On Sept. 25, Dante Mitchell, a local high school student, wrote a letter to the editor titled “It is time for us to come together.” I have had the pleasure of hearing Dante speak at a recent gathering. It is truly refreshing to see a young person within our community who is aware of and focused on the state of affairs in this country and passionate about our political future.

Dante’s positive attitude is a tribute to his generation, and his letter is a delightful contrast to the majority of political letters that have recently appeared in the Yuma Sun. I, for one, will remember the plea of a Yuma High School student “to unite as one nation” before I would remember any of the numerous other letters trying to convince me that I should hate my adversaries.
