Use taxpayer money locally
I received a bill from our new City of Yuma ambulance service for their services when our son suffered an injury during football season at school. We really appreciated those that attended our son, and the service that we get here in Yuma.
But has anyone noticed where those bills come from? Or do we know what the cost to the city was for the billing service? I think all of that would be great if the people of Yuma get faster and quality service, but why are we, the citizens of Yuma, paying for a billing company from California for our own City of Yuma ambulance service? Don't we have quality accounting firms or a billing company here in Yuma? The city bills us for water, sewer and such; can they not do their own billing for the ambulance service?
We are constantly asked to keep our dollars here in Yuma. Buy locally! Shopping here keeps our dollars here? Does that only apply to the residents? Are the city and state offices allowed to take our money and spend it out of state without question? Who made the decision to use an out-of-state billing company?
I was truly upset that I had to deal with an out of state company to pay for services that I received right here in Yuma.
Our money may be being spent in several other areas by the city offices that I am not aware of, and as a citizen of Yuma for over 30 years, I wonder why this is happening.
Keep our dollars in Yuma.
