OMG! That's not what I meant
We've been exposed too long to social media and texting shorthand.
That thought occurred to me as I poured shredded wheat into a breakfast bowl and noticed in bold letters on the box “0mg sodium.”
Maybe it was too early in the morning for me, but I had to look twice to ensure I wasn't reading a warning label for an ingredient that would elevate my blood pressure.
Turns out what looked like the letter O was a zero and the “mg” referred not to the almighty, but to “milligrams.”
I wonder what companies do if they have acronyms for names that end up as texting lingo. A Google search will turn up at least six that go by the initials IDK — better known to texters as “I don't know.”
That might not be the best way to present themselves to a potential customer.
