City needs to work out payment kinks

On Dec. 27, I went to the city of Yuma to pay my monthly fee to swim at Marcus Pool. The time was 7:50. I do this every month in the a.m. at about the same time. I generally avoid Friday because one never knows which Friday they will be closed.

Today there was a person at the desk. He told me he can’t make the transaction because he is only there to tell people that the administrative people will be in at 8 a.m. I go there in the morning because the city says I can do my business beginning at 7 a.m. A business is either open at 7 a.m. or they are not. I have gone at other times, but this is best because one can get in and get out. Going at lunch or some other time one has to wait in a queue to do business. Why? Because they are shorthanded.

Should the city have vacation issues, they need to get someone trained to do the work when citizens want to do business or get some management that can plan better for the holiday season.

They suggested that I pay online. I have tried and had issues. I do not trust the city website. There are other swimmers that have the same feeling.

I can’t pay for the month at the pool because they only take a daily payment of $3 cash. The city trusts the employee at the pool with cash but won’t give them a system that is more secure and not cash. Again, doesn’t make much sense.

Generally I dislike dealing with the city, but I do when I must. Problems like this do not help their image.
