Some sweet headlines on Hostess no-mo-stess
Sweet Sorrow. End of a Golden Era. Twilight for Twinkies. Ding Dong The Twinkie's Dead.
Some situations just lend themselves to amusing headlines. Sometimes it's hard to come up with headlines that aren't boring, even if the subject is boring.
But the possible demise of the Twinkie inspired playful headlines across the nation: Strike Takes the Cake. It's Not So Sweet. Twinkie's Last Stand? Let's Ho-Ho-Pe Not.
OK, some bordered on corny, but I still had fun reading them. The laments posted on Facebook were equally amusing. I even added my own. Upon finding a lone Twinkie on an empty store shelf, I photographed my husband mourning the snack, hat over heart.
I was troubled more by the disappearance of Sno Balls, Ding Dongs and Donettes. And yes, I ate one of each just in case. The “Sugar Rush” (another headline) might have been for naught as the snacks – if not the snack-maker – will probably live on.
