'Warranty' notice is scam

Awhile ago, my mother got a notice in the mail that said her vehicle's warranty was about to expire, and to avoid any lapses she needed to sign up for an extended policy.

No problem, except this was a 1993 model year vehicle and the warranty had expired a very long time ago. But my mom, not knowing any better, sent in the money and got nothing in return.

When she asked me about it, I had to tell her that she had been scammed and there was not much she could do about it.

Flash forward to today. I received a notice stating it was the “second attempt” to extend my vehicle's coverage, and the warranty “may be about to expire.” It even offered “new car coverage.” Really? Similar to my mother's dilemma, my vehicle's warranty expired years and years ago.

Needless to say, I won't bite. Sadly, though, others will, which keeps crooks like these in business.
