Look at violent video games

I wish that everyone would stop and realize that guns and 30-round ammunition clips do not kill people! People kill people! And it takes two seconds to change a smaller 15-round clip.

Have you noticed that in all of these events, it has been young people involved? We are letting our children grow up from 3 and 4 years old playing violent video games where they kill people all day long then restart the game and start over. They are conditioned from that age that it's OK to shoot and kill and no one shoots back at them, and that it's not morally wrong to kill someone.

Our children are also taught that is it OK to kill babies, and not care for old people. But most of all ... they are NOT taught that life is a precious gift from our Creator – a loving, caring, saving and forgiving God. All of us are created equal.

They are being told to take the 10 Commandments and U.S. Constitution out of our lives ... for they are not worth the paper that they are written on.

All that is left is the evil. No moral code is left regarding our fellow man or knowing our connection with our Creator, nor our purpose for living our earthly lives. And we wonder why our children see nothing wrong with killing.

I am a retired United States Marine. I was trained in a lot of methods in the defense of our country. That was a real video game – only it wasn't a game. But they also provided us with the methods and counseling to understand and deal with taking another person's life. These children play these games all day and no one seems to explain to them the moral reasonability of taking away the life of another person. Or the pain it will cause.

Perhaps we should start paying more attention to the violent video games our children are playing and becoming desensitized to the results of killing.

Perhaps instead of focusing on gun control and 30-round magazines, we should think about controlling how our children are spending their time entertaining themselves.

So when they walk into that theater, school or mall, they see it's part of the game and they are dressed for the game.

And now the first thing they want to do is ban assault rifles instead of controlling the violent videos our children are playing.

Bad people and sick people kill people; more attention needs to be paid to the condition of these people. If you or anyone knows someone who is acting confused, bewildered, agitated or disturbed, it is everyone's responsibility to bring this to the attention off the proper people. Don't be guilty of not bringing this to someone's attention; you will forever regret it and you cannot apologize for not telling someone about it later!
