Volunteering can be as much or as little as allowed
Dozens of worthy organizations in Yuma depend on volunteers to run their operations. From schools to charities to the hospital, volunteers are often the lifeblood that makes the difference in how well that business can serve the residents.
Our winter visitors are some of Yuma's best volunteers, and we owe them a deep debt of gratitude for involving themselves in our communities while they're here.
But soon our visitors will head north, and the need for volunteers will still be great. All ages can volunteer, and our schools do a good job encouraging student groups to be active in their communities.
While it's more difficult for working people, there are still many opportunities. Recently, a group of Yuma Sun associates volunteered at the Yuma Community Food Bank for an hour. It was eye-opening and enjoyable.
What about you? Can you spare an hour or two for a favorite group? Expect to be welcomed with open arms.
