Stop the madness in Washington

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

In spite of the overwhelming telephone calls and e-mails from his constituents opposing it, U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva voted for the cap and trade (aka cap and tax) bill.

I say overwhelming opposition because for hours the lines were busy for both his local and Washington phones and his phone voice mail boxes were overflowing and no messages could be left.

When my husband and I were finally able to connect, and both of his offices confirmed an inordinate amount of phone calls opposing this bill. Rep. Grijalva, why weren't you listening?

I say now is the time to start over in Washington from the ground on up. Get rid of everyone. Neither party is listening. They are doing what they want - not what we want them to do!

Remember, it's We The People. It's time for us to take our country back.

Starting today, I am asking for someone to step forward here in Yuma to run against Rep. Grijalva and give us a representative who will truly "represent" us. Common sense is what is needed and the ability to listen to the community.

It's time we step up and stop the madness in Washington!

SHEILA SAVELL
