Stocking up on water a smart move after all
It occurred to me I was overreacting to doomsayers some months back when I filled two five-gallon jugs with water for use in an emergency.
Last week it occurred to me I'd had foresight, as my wife and I found ourselves among Foothills residents without electricity for more than a day. The storm-caused power outage prevented Far West Water and Sewer from continuing to supply us from the tap.
While Foothills water out of a garden hose is not the most palatable, it's true what they say about beggars not being choosers.
I wasn't happy with Arizona Public Service in hours we were without electricity, but I have to praise APS for restoring power as soon as it did, given that dozens of utility poles blew down.
Now that that emergency is behind us, I'll make a mental note to replenish the water jugs in time for the next crisis.
