Writer lives in dangerous place

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I don't know which Yuma letter writer Thomas W. Staggs ("Peaceful society is well-armed one," Oct. 12) lives in, but it is a very dark, very dangerous place where there are murderers around every corner trying to kill him.

I suspect whether he lives in Yuma, Ariz., in Yuma, Colo. or in Yuma, Tenn., he will be just as afraid to go about town without a loaded gun on his hip and a round in the chamber.

He carries danger in his own mind everywhere he goes and is ready to respond to any perceived threat with his loaded pistol. No man, woman or child is safe anywhere he goes. He will shoot first and let God sort it out later.

I am glad I live in Yuma, Ariz. where I only have to worry about paranoid people like him who are frightened, suspicious, armed and feel menaced every minute of the day, in even the safest situation. He frightens me.
