Join centennial celebrations in Yuma
Centennial celebrations are once-in-a-lifetime events.
Yuma County cities, the county, historical society and other organizations have worked hard for months to create fun events to help celebrate Arizona's centennial this weekend through Feb. 14, the official Centennial day. Here's a partial list: a border festival in San Luis, KAWC's Hal Holbrook Mark Twain presentation, the annual Yuma Jaycees Rodeo, a beard/mustache contest, film festival, burial of a time capsule and dedication of a new Heritage Area, historical exhibits and performances, Yuma Crossing Day, the Redondo Days dinner and auction, and Fandango on Main Street.
There are many more events and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Spend this weekend in Yuma, participating in centennial activities celebrating our history, enjoying weather that the rest of the country envies. Watch the Yuma Sun for a complete calendar. And let's all be proud to be Yumans, celebrating Arizona's first 100 years.
