Perplexed by action of Yuma City Council
Concerning the article in the Yuma Sun about the Yuma City Council meeting on Feb. 1 (“Yuma council votes to investigate mayor”), my wife and I went to support Mayor Al Krieger and observed a host of others who had come to do the same. This was obvious by the applause given to comments in his favor.
Although we had of necessity to leave after the first hour, we did get to hear his answer to the 17 supposed charges against him, and there seemed to be nothing of any substance in the charges.
Mayor Krieger's stating that it should go to the Arizona attorney general to let him do the investigation was right on.
Now we are perplexed to find out that our city council members, excepting Leslie McClendon and Bobbi Brooks, voted for an outside attorney, including our newest council member. To top things off, some are speaking of the possibility that one's contact with the outside attorney was possibly in violation of various rules.
This is mighty “poor” counseling! Get that, did ya? Is this the way you want to get the citizens' support by throwing away our money?
It looks to many of us that there should be a way of STOPPING this — by an injunction or some other swift effective means. And please don't be upset by the caps for they didn't hurt your ears, and besides I'm not even of German descent.
Remember, citizens have the vote and such tactics can be remedied thereby!
