It's Yuma-Kofa week, er, Kofa-Yuma week

It's Yuma-Kofa week.

Or, if you are married to someone who is a KHS alumna and still bleeds crimson, it's Kofa-Yuma week.

The bottom line is no matter how you phrase it, it's the rivalry most of the city of Yuma still looks forward to every year. By that I mean if your team is struggling and you can win this one game, everything else is forgotten.

Over the years I've written about many cross-town showdowns, and there have been some doozies.

What I've noticed, however, is some of the showmanship has gone away. I'm referring to the little skits the home team would stage before the opening kickoff each year, with the visiting team expected to do one better the following year.

Of course, on occasion the Criminals' victory bell has been stolen and someone once tried to burn the drawbridge on the Kings' castle.

Ah yes, Yuma-Kofa week, er, I mean Kofa-Yuma week. Sorry honey.
