Yuma economy moving forward again
Yuma is, once again, on the move. The $500 million in construction at MCAS Yuma is ongoing and the first F-35Bs in the world are landing here. At the Yuma International Airport a $5 million Aviation Industrial Center is being built within the Defense Contractors Complex.
Solar projects are under way, employing hundreds. Yuma Regional Medical Center has announced its partnership with Mayo Clinic for its soon-to-be constructed cancer center. The new federal courthouse will open next year.
City sales tax revenues are the best since 2008. Real estate is selling and new developments are under construction. New employer NationsHealth is gearing up and happy with its Yuma employee base. Winter visitors are arriving en masse to enjoy our beautiful winter weather.
All of these add up to good news for our local economy. With the end of 2012 in sight, things are looking much brighter for Yuma County. Is this light at the end of the recession tunnel?
