Comedian's death a sad occasion
I had never heard of him until he died recently in Yuma and his death made the news in the U.S. and Canada. I'm talking about the Canadian comedian Les “Metro” Pavelick.
“If you don't know Metro, you're not from Saskatchewan,” a radio manager told a Calgary newspaper. That's probably why I had never heard of him.
But Yuma is the winter home of many Canadian visitors, so I'm sure many of them noted Pavelick's passing after suffering a heart attack. He died Jan. 22 at the age of 71.
When his death popped up in the news, I searched his name online and found out he was especially well known in the '70s and '80s. He was still doing his act and was scheduled to perform in Yuma the night after he died.
I always find it interesting how Yuma attracts people from all walks of life. This is an example.
My condolences to Pavelick's family and fans.
