Fire, flooding close Yuma-area outdoor spots

Exposed tree roots can be seen in a sink hole along the East Wetlands walking trail. The trails have been closed to repair many areas like this that were damaged during a storm on July 13 that dumped more than an inch and a half of rain in the area.

Flooding and fire have closed some very popular outdoor recreational spots in the Yuma area.Betty's Kitchen at Mittry Lake, which is operated by the Yuma Field Office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, will be closed for the next two years to allow for the restoration of the area .
