The North Gila Substation, where a mass power outage originated, sits approximately nine miles northeast of Yuma near East County 6th Street and Avenue 6 1/2 E. The outage, which left parts of Arizona, Southern California and Baja California without power for up to 12 hours, is one of the Yuma Sun's top stories of 2011.
