Advertising Assistant

Works with team and customers to facilitate proposals, writes ad tickets, correspondence and resolution of customer issues, filing, take photos as needed, assist with ad layout.  Cross trains and performs coverage for Account Retention Specialists as directed.  The ideal candidate is detail oriented with terrific organizational skills.

Education:  High School Diploma or GED

Experience:  1-2 years previous clerical experience.

Account Relationship Specialist (ARS)

The Yuma Sun has a full time opening for an Account Relationship Specialist (ARS). This position will focus on fulfillment of active account ad campaigns and the retention of current customers. The Account Relationship Specialist continues the sales process after the Field Sales Representative (FSR) has opened the sale of a new or existing account. The primary responsibilities include: account retention, monitoring campaign fulfillment, contact client for ad order and copy instructions, create ad layouts, weekly discussion with clients for any copy or artwork changes. This position will work collaboratively with their assigned team to ensure exceptional customer service to company’s current and prospective advertisers.

Additional key focus areas will include sales acquisition via the phone with dormant/churn advertisers and other special initiatives of focus.  The ARS exhibits a strong working relationship on their team with FSR’s and sales assistants if applicable.

Education:  High School Diploma or GED; BA/BS in Advertising, Marketing or related field a plus.

Experience:  Minimum of 1-2 years sales experience; a track record of excellent customer relationships. Advertising experience a plus.

Certifications/Licenses:  State issued driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance

Staff Reporter

Part-time position. Gathers, organizes and reports verbal, written, visual and audio information for The Yuma Sun, its related publications and its new media efforts. This position will report to the Assignments Editor.  

Education:  A journalism degree or related experience desirable.

Experience:  New media experience desirable. Must be proficient on computers, camera and audio equipment as well as computer software required by the position.

Certifications/Licenses:  Must have vehicle for transportation and current Arizona driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.

Circulation Assistant

Two Part-time positions available. Will be responsible for timely delivery of The Yuma Sun to our carriers and subscribers, supporting the daily activities of the circulation department, including delivery support and redelivery of the paper when needed and assists in the routine maintenance program of our company fleet of vehicles.

This candidate must be 18 years of age, be able to lift objects of at least 50 pounds, and work weekends and early morning hours.

Press Operator

Operate and maintain the press equipment while producing a quality product that appeals to our customers.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be proficient in all areas of apprentice and Level I.
  • Must be proficient in registering CMYK.
  • Know how to use a durometer to check rollers
  • Operator should start learning how to operate press console, and performing small press runs.
  • Check & set iron to iron of cylinders
  • Replace copper rollers, chrome rollers
  • Time units
  • Follow departmental quality control procedures for the Pressroom.
  • Know and follow all departmental safety procedures.
  • Replace parts on press if needed
  • During the periods when you are in charge of the press run you be responsible for the quality of the product.

Experience: 2-3 years press operations

Creative Services Manager

Efficiently and effectively manages the creative services staff in performing daily tasks to ensure smooth workflow and deadline adherence while providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct planning, coordination and execution of all creative services functions.
  • Develop ways to consistently improve current processes and procedures.
  • Direct departmental activities and workflow of staff.
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new staff members.
  • Oversee the yearly performance appraisals for staff members, delineating strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Solve problems relating to day-to-day activities of the creative services staff.
  • Advocate and demonstrate a superior level of excellent internal and external customer service.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent computer skills in both a Macintosh and Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, PhP, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a windows-based and web-enabled desktop environment.
  • Strong page design and layout skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including follow up as well as time and resource management abilities.
  • Ability to manage a large volume of activity in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work under daily deadline pressures.
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.

Education:  Degree in graphic arts or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

Experience:  5-7 years graphic arts experience; 3-5 years supervisory experience.

Web Developer

 The primary responsibilities of this position include maintaining, improving upon and updating the company’s web sites.  This includes but is not limited to content management, daily updates, editing HTML and PHP code.  This position requires design work on both advertisements and web sites, including limited animation.  This may involve modifying or creating images for web-based application.

Our chosen candidate must be familiar with current web designs and able to layout user friendly web pages.  Prior experience in web design, internet programming and database experience is preferred. Qualified applicants must have demonstrated attention to detail, an aptitude for technical problem solving, self-initiative and the ability to work well under pressure and well in a team environment.

Education:    High School Diploma or GED

Experience:  Familiarity with standard HTML editors, primarily Dreamweaver is desired.  Photoshop, knowledge of Flash, Open Source software all a plus.
