On a canal bank in the Yuma Valley, Yuma Sun writer Hillary Davis drinks a cup of champagne during a traditional post-flight ritual for first-time flyers Friday morning. Davis had just completed her very first hot air balloon flight in Bill Heck's balloon, which is one of those entered in this weekend's Caballeros de Yuma's 2012 Colorado River Crossing Balloon Festival. Friday's flight originated at Kennedy Park.
