Multimedia Graphic Designer

The Yuma Sun has a F/T position available for a Multimedia Graphic Designer. This position is required to produce high quality print and online ads under daily deadline pressures. This person must be adept in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash as well as Microsoft Outlook. This person must be able to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment. This position requires the designer to be flexible, producing creative, high quality advertisements. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this position. This position is a 40 / hr work week from 8-5pm.

Education:    High School Diploma or GED. College course work a plus.

Experience:              Previous graphic art & web experience.

Circulation Assistant
An exciting career in newspapers can begin with this position. We are seeking someone who will be responsible for timely delivery of The Yuma Sun to our carriers and subscribers, supporting the daily activities of the circulation department, including delivery support and redelivery of the paper when needed and assists in the routine maintenance program of our company fleet of vehicles.  This position is categorized as a part-time regular position.

Night News Editor

The Yuma Sun is currently looking for a talented night news editor with creative InDesign skills and a strong news sense. We’re a seven-day a week morning newspaper with an average 20,000 circulation. This person will manage staff on the copy desk to ensure the quality, accuracy and timely production of our products. This person will design eye-catching pages as well as support our social media and online efforts. The right candidate must have a journalism degree or equivalent experience.

Business Manager

We are looking for a hands on Business Manager.  Someone who is not afraid of journal entries and is an accounting warrior. 

As Business Manager, you will support the publisher in managing the company's financial activities from overseeing the entire accounting function and credit activities for the company to analyzing and making recommendations regarding current operations.

 Additional requirements include:

• 5+ years finance & accounting management experience.  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with experience in accounting management.   Firm grasp of accrual accounting, general ledger, GAAP, etc.
• Strong background in Financial Planning and Analysis supported by a demonstrated understanding of accounting basics
• 3+ years of business & leadership experience which includes:  development and implementation of strategy; proven ability to foresee opportunities and risks and to create plans to exploit or counter them.; experience driving and managing change in a dynamic environment; experience serving as a business partner to key leadership
• Strong change management, team-building and leadership skills and demonstrated experience leading a finance/accounting staff.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Outstanding organizational, analytical and communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Knowledge of Great Plains or like accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable software.

Staff Reporter

The Yuma Sun, a daily newspaper in Yuma, Arizona, is accepting applications for a part-time new era reporting position. Applicants will be able to write news and features proficiently, edit copy and handle related new media efforts such as photography, video and audio presentations. We would expect an understanding and appreciation of the role of the Web, intense local coverage and the diverse skills needed in today's newspaper world. Experience in all these areas is desirable, but a willingness to learn and adapt is essential. We offer an environment where change is embraced.

 Education, Experience, Skills & Special Requirements:

1.  Journalism degree or equivalent experience desired. New media experience desirable.
