Matador volleyball sweeps Mesa, soccer hosts Yavapai
The Arizona Western volleyball team had a balanced attack and swept Mesa 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 on the road on Wednesday.
Sophomores Paula Rosa and Amanda Watkins and freshman Amber Graham each had nine kills for the Matadors. San Luis grad Melly Wong had 11 digs and Watkins also added seven blocks in the win.
“We played with a lot more confidence tonight and did the simple things better,” Matador coach Jason Smith said. “Mesa had nothing to lose so they were swinging for the fences.”
