Women's Basketball: AWC at Pima preview

Last game: AWC rallied in the final minute of regulation to force overtime with Yavapai and eventually won 88-85 in double overtime Wednesday at The House. The Aztecs beat Cochise 80-56 Wednesday in Douglas.

Records: AWC (5-1 overall, 1-0 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference); Pima (2-3, 1-0 ACCAC)

Player to watch: Matador freshman point guard Amanda Rawlings had 19 points off the bench in Wednesday's win and has been the team's best 3-point shooter thus far. ... .Aztec center Tia Morrisson is the team's leading scorer at just under 20 points per game.

The lowdown:  Winners of five straight, the  Matadors seem to have found a consistent scoring combination with TJ Manson, Tyrisha Blake and Rawlings. ...  Natalia da Costa also landed her first double-digit scoring night of the season Wednesday, all 11 of her points coming in the first 40 minutes of the game. ... The Aztecs have filled their roster with six local products from five different high schools and are lots of sophomores. Pima's three losses have all been decided by less than 10 points, including loss to No. 3 Salt Lake and a 1-point overtime loss to No. 24 South Plains (Texas). Pima is among the other schools receiving votes in this weeks' Division II poll. ...AWC and Pima split its series last year, each winning on its home floor.
