ON DECK: No more fundamentally sound team around than Shamrocks
Earlier this month, as a junior high school band approached, the father said to his daughter, “Hey that's your school. I saw your band practicing the other day. Your band director was really working them hard. He's a real taskmaster. He's the Rhett Stallworth of band directors. Your band is going to be good.”
I found the father's comparing the band director with Yuma Catholic High School's football coach funny.
Don't get me wrong, I also agree with the observation because I had the opportunity to photograph some Yuma Catholic games too this past season, and from my perspective, you will not find a more disciplined, fundamentally sound football team, anywhere.
Why didn't they defend their state championship? Check the film. It's too bad the officials who called the semifinal game the Shamrocks lost weren't as fundamentally sound as Catholic's players.
