Canan wins Thunderbird Classic

Tacna's Mieke Canan scored her second tournament win of the summer with a closing-round 75 on Thursday to win the Thunderbird Junior Classic at The Arizona Biltmore Country Club.

She was three strokes ahead of Gilbert's Saki Iida.

Canan began the two-day tournament with a 1-under 71 Wednesday to open up a four-shot lead, ending a streak of three round in the 80s dating back to last week.

On Thursday she shot a 41 on the front side, including an eight on the par-4 third hole. Canan bounced back on the back nine with birdies on No.'s 10, 13 and 14.
