Scorps cool off Chill's streak
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Yuma Scorpions ended Palm Springs’ 12-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory over the Chill in ARizona Winter League action Thursday night at Desert Sun Stadium.
The Scorpions scored a run in the top of the first, one in the fourth, and two in the eighth, while limiting the Chill to a run in the seventh and only eight hits.
Starter Tyler Pearson worked seven innings, striking out 11 and issuing no walks to earn the win. Relievers Ray Devaul, Shaun Majlinger, and Neil Hayes kept the Chill off the scoreboard in the last two innings.
Palm Springs starter Kirk Spreiter went eight innings, also without walking any batters, but took the loss.
Henry Calderon singled in the first Scorpion run, then doubled and scored the second run. In the eighth, Mike Campbell singled, Brian Rzepka doubled, and Pete Farina singled them both in with the insurance runs. Farina also had a double.
Sean Lorentz and Drew Taddia each had two hits for the Chill.
