LOCAL GLANCE: Hazlett named AFCA Player of the Year
Kody Hazlett was named the Arizona Football Coaches Association Player of the Year this season.
Andy Determan earned two spots on the All-State team, one of four Shamrocks on the first team, joining Hazlett and offensive linemen Glen Justice and Peter Hurtado. Determan was named as a linebacker and a return man.
Defensive lineman Marco Perricone and offensive lineman Jose Valencia earned honorable mention.
YOUTH BASEBALL
San Pasqual camp Dec. 22
San Pasqual baseball coach will put on a baseball camp Dec. 22 for all Yuma-area baseball players.
The camp is for boys and girls between 7 and 18 years old and will run from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the San Pasqual baseball fields. The camp costs $25 and includes lunch.

PREP GIRLS SOCCER
Cibola beats San Luis
Andi Bedoya led the Raiders with a hat trick in Cibola's 5-2 victory over San Luis Monday.
San Luis opened up the scoring in the first half, but Cibola came back and ended the first half with a 3-1 lead.
Cibola's other two goals were scored by Jizzel Escalante and Chelsea Perez.
“It's always good to take advantage of the home field,” said Cibola coach Joel Ibarra.
Cibola hosts Lake Havasu Thursday at 4 p.m.
Shamrocks shutout Gila Ridge
Shamrock Karla Navarro kicked a midair cross from Morgan Frank into the back of the net in the 55th minute to give Yuma Catholic the victory over Gila Ridge Monday after playing in eight tournament games last weekend.
“We consider this a big win, obviously all wins count but this one is particularly good,” said Shamrock coach Jesus Quintana. “Most of our girls were still pretty tired and trying to recover from the marathon weekend. The girls played hard and really fought and wanted to win.”
The second goal came from Krysta Aitken in the 70th minute scoring off a rebound inside the goalie box.

Criminals lock up Marcos De Niza
Yuma High defeated the visiting Phoenix school Marcos De Niza 3-1 Monday.
The Criminal goals came from Enrique Pantoja, Giovanni Melendrez and Miguel Alcantar.
The win over Marcos De Niza improves Yuma High to 3-0 as it travels to Cibola today.
